Jesus' Footprints

Posted on: 20 Oct 2010

This morning our son was told not to do something but he looked straight at his Daddy and disobeyed.  The result was a spanking.

We are the same way with God sometimes.  He warns us not to do something but we disobey and are disciplined.  Any good parent would discipline a disobedient child.  Proverbs 3:11-12 offers this advice, “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction; For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.”

Like any parent, God is pleased when we listen to Him and obey.  Jesus pleased His Father by being obedient and doing His will.  Jesus even described whom He considered to be His family.  “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother” (Matthew 12:50).

“Are you disobedient to God”.  If so, do not be discouraged when He corrects you. “Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty” (Job 5:17).
